Walgreens Fined $350 Million for Involvement in Illegal Opioid Prescriptions

Walgreens has agreed to pay $350 million as part of a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice. This fine is related to allegations that the pharmacy chain unlawfully filled prescriptions for opioids. According to the Justice Department's statement, Walgreens allowed a thousand opioid prescriptions, which were written without proper medical justification or oversight, to be filled at its stores.
