Slovak President Urges Cabinet to Act to Avoid EU Aid Sanctions

The President of Slovakia, Zuzana Čaputová, has called on the country's government to accelerate necessary reforms and measures to avoid sanctions from the European Union concerning law enforcement and adherence to the rule of law. In her address, Čaputová emphasized that maintaining financial support from the EU is a crucial aspect for the country's economic resilience, especially in light of a complex economic situation and global challenges.

According to her, insufficient efforts to fulfill commitments arising from EU membership could lead to a decrease in creditworthiness and a loss of access to grants and auxiliary financing, which are vital for Slovakia.

The President mentioned the need for a collaborative approach among the government, various institutions, and society in combating corruption and improper influence on state processes. She urged all political stakeholders in Slovakia to pay attention to these factors and take measures to improve the situation.

Čaputová also clarified that while the situation remains difficult, the government has the opportunity to prevent potential sanctions from the EU. She called on ministers to act decisively and promptly to ensure that Slovakia remains on the path to political and economic stability.

Slovakia, facing internal economic difficulties and rising social tensions, needs effective actions to strengthen its position within the European Union and continue receiving the necessary support for economic recovery and reforms.
