Volkswagen Golf GTI and R 2024: Secrets of Manual Sales

Volkswagen joyfully announced that in 2024, manual transmissions will once again be available for the Golf GTI and Golf R models. This decision was made based on the strong demand from brand enthusiasts urging the return of traditional driving controls. Both models, designed with a focus on driving pleasure, will be available for purchase with a six-speed manual gearbox, whereas previously these models were only offered with automatic transmissions.

The company emphasizes that this move is aimed at restoring dynamism in vehicle handling, which has always been an integral part of the GTI and R identity. The new 2024 Golf GTI will feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 241 horsepower. On the other hand, the Golf R will offer a more powerful version of the engine, reaching up to 315 horsepower, ensuring maximum driving pleasure thanks to the manual transmission.

Currently, Volkswagen has not disclosed specific sales start dates; however, it is expected that the manual versions will be available worldwide in the first half of 2024. Pricing information has also not yet been revealed, but it is likely to align with previous models featuring automatic transmission, with a slight increase due to the manual transmission option.

While official details are limited, many car enthusiasts are already expressing their excitement and joy over the return of manuals, and these models are expected to become a hit among those who enjoy connecting with their vehicle. Volkswagen will continue to compete with other manufacturers offering similar segments of cars; nevertheless, the availability of a manual gearbox may become a crucial point in choosing a model among potential buyers.
