General Motors Issues Recall for Trucks and SUVs Due to Potential Wheel Lock-Up

General Motors has announced a recall of vehicles, including pickups and SUVs, amid concerns that the wheels could lock up while in motion. This issue could arise under specific conditions, significantly increasing the risk of accidents.

About 440,000 vehicles in the U.S. will be affected by the recall, including models like the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra produced in 2021 and 2022. The main cause of the problem is the possibility of incorrect installation of wheel bolts, which can lead to their loosening and ultimately – to wheel lock-up.

GM has stated that vehicle owners will be notified about the issue. If necessary, the company will provide free replacement of the bolts and conduct the required checks to ensure the safety of its customers. Engineers are already working on resolving the issue.

Previously introduced new SUV models are also subject to the recall. This decision reflects GM's commitment to driver and passenger safety, and the company views this situation as extremely serious.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is closely monitoring the situation and warning owners of the potential risks associated with this issue. Drivers are advised to contact dealers if they notice any signs of looseness in the wheel.
